FAQs

What happens at an assessment?

The assessment is a chance for us to meet and get to know one another. It’s an opportunity for me to understand what’s brought you to therapy, and gives you the space to ask any questions, and see if I’m the right therapist for you.

How do I know what I need?

Don’t worry, that’s my job!

After our initial meeting I will be able to recommend therapies for you. We will work together to make sure our sessions are exactly what you need and are achieving the aims you came for.

What happens in a session?

We take each session at a pace you are comfortable with, and in a gentle manner. There are no complicated forms, no list of questions, just you and me, responding to what you bring.

For more information on how we’ll work together, please click here.

What does Integrative mean?

Integrative means that I am trained to work with a variety of different therapeutic approaches. This knowledge allows me to tailor-make therapy to your individual needs.

How many sessions should I book?

I don’t ask you to commit to a number of sessions. At the start of our time together, we can decide how many to begin with and review as we go depending on your needs.

How long will therapy last for?

Therapy can be short or long term. Some clients get what they need from as few as six sessions. Others may choose to continue sessions for a few months, or even longer. We will review how you feel things are going on a regular basis.

How does Coaching differ from Counselling?

Counselling focuses more on exploring, understanding and deconstructing personal issues and events.

Coaching helps you come up with a concrete plan about how to change things or achieve specific goals. Coaching is less reflective and more proactive.

I use a mixture of both in the sessions, but the balance can shift according to your needs. Please read here to find out more about coaching and what it can offer you.

How does Covid-19 affect sessions?

Currently, I am happy to see people in my consultation room as it is large enough to allow for social distancing. I am also happy to conduct sessions via Skype, Zoom, or Signal.

How is my data stored as a client?

As a therapist, I am acutely aware of the importance of confidentiality, and as a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) I observe their guidelines on confidentiality and explain these guidelines at the beginning of therapy. Please refer to my Privacy Policy here.

How can I get to your practice?

My practice is easily accessible via public transport, equidistant between South Woodford and Snaresbrook tube stations (Central Line) and about a 14-minute walk from each. You may also take the W14 bus from either station, getting off at Clarendon Road and walking for a further 5 minutes. If you are driving, there is ample free parking outside.
